“Heart of the Tree” (Working Title)
Quadri/Quincentennial Bur Oak in memoriam project
Approximately 24″x32″x24″
Visit our special projects – quadricentennial bur oak page for more information about this ongoing project.
The “tree project,” as it is lovingly called, is still being assembled. This deceased tree wood and bark was obtained through an artist proposal process granted by the City of Plano after the 400+ year old tree fell in October 2023 due to heavy storms. When it fell, it was 90 ft tall, had a canopy of approximately 105 ft wide, and a diameter of about 6 ft.
The adjacent sketch is a mock of the design that was proposed and ultimately accepted by the City of Plano.
Any individual funds donated to the project, or from the sale of the art overall, will be 100% donated to plant more trees.
